Mangueira, 1993

A mango tree, tubes of polyethylene and water
Installation
Different dimensions

This work was conceived to this special location. It was hanging from a mango tree that in Portuguese is called Mangueira, the same name that we also call this kind of tubes. They were filled with water and hanged in a way to keep a fragile balance without being fixed on the tree but simple going over its branches. Their extremities were ending in a pond and beautifully mirroring and doubling the image of the whole.

In this piece what especially attracted me was to work according to the measures and changeable conditions of the tree and its surroundings, differently then working in a room where the architecture is already a given rational data.
